1. What grades does RiverWalk Christian Academy Offer?

We currently have Kindergarten 5, and Grades 1-8. Child Care is also available for infants through age 4 through our Childcare center - RiverWalk Childcare Center

 

2. What curriculum is used?
The ABEKA curriculum is the approved plan of study for all classes. The advanced course of study offers an intensive phonics approach to reading, a traditional program of math instruction, and a language arts program that prepares students to write and speak effectively. The Bob Jones curriculum is the approved plan of study for grades 4-8. This is a Christian curriculum that offers a traditional Math program, an up-to-date Science and Social Studies program with a Godly emphasis and perspective, an intensive Language Arts program, and challenges the students with critical thinking skills in Reading.

 

3. What about accreditation?
RiverWalk Christian Academy is a non public school which is registered with the Florida Department of Education, and the Seminole County Board of Education. RiverWalk Christian Academy is a member Church of God Association of Christian Schools (CGACS), a leading education association in the Church of God, Tampa, Florida.

 

4. What is the religious emphasis at RiverWalk Christian Academy?
RiverWalk Christian Academy is an educational ministry of RiverWalk Church of God. The school's purpose is to provide students with a knowledge of God, to instill a love and respect for God's Word, to introduce students to the plan of salvation and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and to teach basic Christian principles for daily living. Classroom morning devotions, weekly chapel services, and regular chapel instruction are an important part of the student's learning experience.

 

5. What are the admissions requirements?
RiverWalk Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, principles, programs, and activities made available to students at the school. Acceptance is determined in the completion of the admission application, a personal interview with the school administration, an evaluation of the student's academic and behavioral record, and payment of the appropriate fees.

7. What about before / after care?
Students will be received beginning at 7:30 a.m. with class beginning at 8:00 a.m.  If you need care before 7:30 a.m., before school care is available from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. through our Child Care Center.  School pick-up ends at 3:15 p.m.  After school care is available from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.  There is a fee for before and after school care.  

 

8. What about dress code?
Uniforms are mandatory at RiverWalk Christian Academy.  The accepted uniform colors and styles are listed in the student handbook.  A RiverWalk Christian Academy logo t-shirt is required for field trips.  These t-shirts can be purchased through the school office. 

 

9. What about grades / testing?
The progress of all students is evaluated on a nine week grading period in both social and academic development. Students are given a standardized achievement test in the Spring of each school year as an additional assessment of academic progress.

 

10. What about discipline?
RiverWalk Christian Academy feels it is beneficial and necessary for discipline to be a part of the classroom setting. A clearly defined behavioral management system is adhered to in each classroom. Prayer and Godly counsel are an integral part of our discipline procedure. The teaching staff and administration of RiverWalk Christian Academy desires to keep communication open with parents as a partnership in discipline. Student responsibilities and behavior guidelines are outlined in the Student Handbook.
